How do I claim prizes?

Congratulations! Now that you have won, here is what you need to know about claiming your prize.

To start, sign your name on the back of the ticket. An unsigned ticket is a “bearer instrument,” meaning anyone in possession of it can claim the prize. It is a good idea to sign all of your tickets.

Remember to claim your prize before it expires. Draw game prizes must be claimed within one year of the draw date. Instant game prizes must be claimed within one year of the purchase date. After one year, your ticket will expire and your prize will be forfeited, regardless of whether the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday.

Prizes of $999.99 or less

You can claim a Lottery prize of $999.99 or less for a ticket purchased in-store at any Michigan Lottery retailer. While most Lottery retailers redeem prizes as a service for their customers, they are not required to do so by the Lottery or state law. Some stores have strict policies regarding the amount of cash available to employees, so a store may be unable to redeem your prize-winning ticket.

Prizes of $99,999.99 or less

You can claim a Lottery prize of $99,999.99 or less for a ticket purchased in-store by appointment at a Lottery Claim Center or by mail.

Lottery Claim Centers process claims by appointment only. The fastest and easiest way to schedule an appointment is online. If you cannot schedule online, call 1-844-917-6325.

Required documents and identification

For individual prize claims, provide a completed Ticket Receipt Form and the original winning ticket signed on the back.

For club or group prize claims, provide a completed Substitute 5754 form and the original winning ticket signed on the back.

For prize claims of $1,000 and above, you must also provide a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID, and a Social Security card. The name on the photo ID must match the name on the Social Security card.

Prizes of $100,000 or more

If you win a prize of $100,000 or more, you must claim your prize at Lottery Headquarters, located at 101 E. Hillsdale Street, Lansing, MI 48933. Call Lottery Player Relations at 844-917-6325 to schedule an appointment.

At your appointment, you must provide a valid government-issued photo ID and a Social Security card. The name on the photo ID must match the name on the Social Security card.
